What education/degrees/credentials do I need to teach online?
In general to teach online with UniversalClass™ individuals must meet these minimum requirements:
Education*- Four year (BA) college degree accredited by an agency recognized by the Department of Education (an additional 2 year MA degree is recommended as well as advanced post graduate work).
Work / Field Experience - Four to Six years work experience (outside of school) in the area of interest being instructed.
Writing / Communication Skills - Excellent use of the English language, excellent writing skills (correspondence through email is an essential component; we recommend that you can type at least 30 wpm). *Some non-academic/non-technical subjects (such as Craft and Hobby courses) require more personal experience and less traditional modes of education. We are seeking a part-time, contract, experienced Mandarin (Chinese) language tutor to provide individual lessons to one of our clients for about 20 hours of instruction. Our client would like to begin lessons as soon as possible.
This position is ideal for teachers who are passionate about language and sharing that passion with their students. We offer the opportunity to bring your individual teaching style in unique teaching environment:
We do not impose a curriculum on you. We give you as a language professional the ability to judge “on the ground” how to adapt instruction to a student’s individual needs and interests. You won’t be alone though, because we do have resources on staff to help you out.
Very flexible scheduling. You coordinate the lesson schedule directly with the client, but we encourage lessons 2-3 times per week for a minimum of one hour per lesson.
